Core Philosophy
At Medianoche, we believe your reading habits and library are a private space. Our architecture is designed to prioritize local storage and direct-to-provider AI interactions, minimizing the data we ever see or touch.
1. Data Collection
Medianoche is primarily a local-first application. Your library, feeds, and notes are stored locally on your device.
- Personal Data: We do not require an account or your email address to use the desktop application. We do not track your in-app reading habits, app clicks, or behavioral data.
- Usage Data: We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics (e.g., total number of users) to improve the product. This data is never linked to your identity or specific library content.
2. License Activation & AI
When you activate your license or use AI features, the data is handled as follows:
- License Activation: To enforce device limits, your license key and a unique machine identifier (e.g., your computer's local host name) are sent to our license provider, Lemon Squeezy.
- AI Providers: Content sent for AI processing (summaries, chat) goes directly from your device to the provider you select (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or local LLMs). Medianoche does not store this content on our servers.
- Apple Intelligence: Processing happens on-device or via Apple's Private Cloud Compute.
3. Cookies and Web Storage
This landing page uses localStorage to remember your theme preference (Dark/Light). We do not use advertising pixels.
- Lemon Squeezy affiliate tracking: If you visit a Medianoche marketing page through an affiliate link, Lemon Squeezy may record an anonymous referral identifier so the affiliate can be credited if you later buy a license. This does not give Medianoche access to your reading library, saved articles, feeds, notes, or app content.
4. Your Rights
Since your data resides on your device, you have full control over it. You can export or delete your local database at any time.
